The customer.
LightX Innovations is a startup company that offers a platform paving the way for tele-ophthalmology. Combining artificial intelligence and a three-dimensional (3D) acquisition system, it is the first interface allowing the digitization of the entire classic examination of the anterior segment of the eye.
The issue
The current demographic growth demands increasing attention to eye health. However, there is a mismatch between the needs and access to eye health professionals (ophthalmology/optometry). The medical tool developed by LightX Innovations simplifies the process of the traditional eye examination (slit lamp) and allows to overcome the technical constraints imposed by this specialized workforce. It democratizes access to eye examinations and can lead to a significant efficiency gain. Cloud computing provides access to specialists without borders. This allows for a diagnostic opinion no matter where one is located, and will have a great impact on remote and underserved populations.
The solution.
We have developed a platform that allows technicians to perform on-site eye examinations and build a gallery of eye photos from different angles and lighting. Subsequently, ophthalmologists can remotely analyze the collected data in 3D.
Manage patients and exams.
The LightX platform allows managing the schedule of upcoming exams as well as the list of patients at the clinic. Integrating the LightX platform with all electronic medical records (EMR) systems is possible.
Exam revision.
Access to the exams is done in an encrypted manner, via a mobile phone, a tablet, or a web browser. In order to maximize the realistic experience of an eye exam, a 3D screen (monitor, adapted tablet, or virtual reality headset) is recommended.
