What is Talent & Culture? (And why it's not just HR?)
Talents, not resources.
The word 'resource' sounds a bit technical, almost cold. As if people were tools that can be replaced.
Here, we talk about talents because we see people as complete humans, with their strengths, ideas, ambitions, and emotions. Individuals who bring our company to life, day after day.
My role is not just to manage files or fill out forms. It is to support the growth of individuals, to help them evolve, learn, and surpass themselves. It is to accompany them on their journey, and to ensure that they feel good with us. Really good.
Culture is what we experience.
Corporate culture is not a slogan or a rigid framework. It is not just social activities, happy hours, or occasional events. What we truly experience is the 9 to 5, day after day. It is how we communicate, respect each other, and collaborate under pressure. It is the space we give to ideas, how we provide feedback, the room we allow people to be themselves, even during busy times.
No one leaves a company because there were 'not enough happy hours'. We leave because we didn't feel listened to. Because there was a lack of recognition. Because the atmosphere was tense or because the management pretended to have values, without ever embodying them.
At Recursyve, our culture is built on the little things of everyday life. The unique traditions we have created together, the moments that reflect us. Like our Monday morning Café Disco, a time to start the week together, without talking about work. But also our annual recap in the style of Bye Bye, our Slack channel for absurd quotes from the gang, or the Recursypiades, our very own version of the Olympics.
It is in all of this, the serious and the fun, that the true culture takes root. A culture that is not decreed, but felt.
Why I focus on both: Talent & Culture.
Because we cannot separate the human from their environment. Professional development comes from a healthy climate, an inspiring atmosphere, and a space where one feels like themselves.
My job is to listen, to propose meaningful initiatives, to find ways to ensure that the world is happy, motivated, engaged. And I never do it alone. It is the talents that nourish me, give me feedback, open doors to new ideas.
It is a team effort, with closeness, trust, and authenticity.
In conclusion...
If I have one piece of advice to give to someone who wants to build a strong culture: make it in your image. Do not try to copy what others are doing.
Start from who you are, from what drives you. And build something true, that is lived daily.
